Duniway PTA - Programs & Activities
Our PTA is extremely active in all aspects of the school. Which is another way of saying that there are plenty of volunteer possibilities available! Here's a list of our programs and committees (click on the links for more information):
- Advocacy
- Applied Arts
- Audit Committee
- Book Fair -Hhelp to provide our students, staff, families and neighbors with quality reading materials, encouraging reading literacy! It also provides a "donate your loose change" fund jar during the fairs, and donates all funds collected to purchase new books from the fair to our own library; thus refreshing and keeping an updated stock available to all students!
- Box Tops - Collect Box Tops for Education labels and redeem them for cash for Duniway
- Chinook Books - Chinook Books are sold from Oct until November 2nd for $20 each. They are coupons books for local and national retailers, restaurants, services, and grocery items with an emphasis on eco-friendly practices. Order forms are in the office and in the hall across from the auditorium. Contact Rossana for questions.
- Classroom Representatives
- Clothing Closet & Community Service - The PTA Clothing Center is located at Marshall High School and distributes clothing, shoes, backpacks, etc., to families in need whose children attend Portland Public Schools. Each school in the district participates by donating items (from Lost and Found) and by providing volunteers twice a year to assist on site with the organization and disbursement of clothing to families.

- Fifth Grade Activities - Visit the Holiday Home Tour Boutique and enjoy a few tasty treats baked and sold by the fifth grade students. The end of the 2010 school year has us saying goodbye to a wonderful group of 5th graders - parents and teachers put together a fun celebration.
- Fund Run - This is the opportunity to connect physical activity with charitable involvement. Sponsor your children as they run to raise money for Duniway
- Green Team / Safer Routes to School
- Holiday Giving Project - Coordinate, gather and assist the Duniway faculty/staff with food and gifts for Duniway families that are in need of some help during the December holidays. The Duniway community helps with purchasing food and gifts. The faculty and staff deliver the boxes of food and gifts right before the holiday break in December.
- Home Tour - Be a part of a neighborhood holiday tradition that is 31 years strong! This year's event takes place on Friday, December 4th and features six lovely homes in Eastmoreland and its surrounding neighborhoods. Plenty of hands make this event possible. Sign up to be a tour "Angel" who guides visitors through the home, assist in ticket sales or help coordinate the Holiday Boutique. Contact Kristin Cole at coleducks@comcast.net for more information.
- Home Tour Boutique Coordinator - The Boutique is a component of the Holiday Home Tour, offering a wide range of creative gift items from local artists and artisans. The coordinator selects vendors based on their merchandise, coordinates contracts and volunteers, and manages the financial aspects of the sale.

Scrip - supporters purchase gift cards for various merchants and services and a portion of the amount spend is donated to Duniway.
