Parents

The Duniway PTA is a part of the National PTA which focuses on child advocacy and enrichment programs. The Duniway PTA offers Spanish classes, Cool School programs, which provide a wide variety of enrichment activities, a parent-run art program and a Cultural Arts program which includes artists in residence. The PTA also provides funds for classroom field trips and classroom supplies. The main fundraisers for the PTA are the Scrip program, a Fall gift wrap sale and community events like the Macy’s Parade, a Winter Home Tour and Spring Carnival.

The Duniway School Foundation is part of the Portland Public Schools Foundation which was established by the school board to raise funds for teaching positions that might otherwise be eliminated. The Duniway School Foundation provides funds for a Physical Education teacher, a Music teacher, a Librarian and a Literacy Specialist. The Foundations main fundraisers include an annual fund drive, a Spring auction and various special events.

The Duniway School Site Council reviews school data and provides a yearly plan for school improvement and staff inservice.

Duniway parents and family members provide exceptional support for school programs through dedicated involvement in PTA, Local School Advisory Committee (LSAC), site council and Foundation, as well as other volunteer and fundraising activities.
